What Is NITROWEAR®?
Used in place of chrome plating, black oxide, and traditional carburizing, NITROWEAR® offers an attractive black finish while resisting wear, fatigue, and corrosion—even under aggressive conditions.
NITROWEAR® is a proprietary and patented surface treatment that enhances the DYNA-BLUE® process with a specialized corrosion-resistant finish. Applied as an oil-based spray or dip following DYNA-BLUE®, NITROWEAR® dramatically increases salt spray resistance up to 96–120+ hours per ASTM B-117—outperforming 409 stainless steel, even on low carbon steels.
This combination helps your parts stand up to tough environments with minimal distortion, superior dimensional control, and maximum surface durability—perfect for components that can’t afford failure.
How NITROWEAR® Compares
This technology is especially effective for parts exposed to corrosive or caustic environments such as salt water, H2S, and others, where traditional coatings such as Black Oxide, Paint and Electroless Nickel or Chrome plating quickly fail due to wear and erosion. NITROWEAR is a combination of a rust preventative plus a hard DYNA-BLUE 75+ process diffused into the steel, which does not chip or peel off.
